EDIA Pilot Programme
The BIT Collective is developing a new Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility (EDIA) Pilot Programme, funded by Creative Scotland, to respond directly to two recommendations in “Boxed In: Considerations of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion within Traditional Arts in Scotland” ,(Creative Scotland and the University of Glasgow).
The two recommendations the programme will focus on are: developing sector-specific guidance and creating more opportunities for organisations to connect, share learning and access training.
the pilot will build on the knowledge and experience already within the sector, recognising the practical steps organisations are taking to address EDIA and the challenges they face along the way.
About
Sharing good practice across the sector
The pilot will explore how organisations are putting EDIA into practice, highlighting approaches to policies, safeguarding, sexual violence and harassment, safer spaces, staff training and communications.
Through short-form videos and accompanying written content, these case studies will share what has worked, what has proved challenging and what others can learn from the experience.
Creating space to connect and learn
The programme will also develop and test facilitated workshops designed specifically for traditional arts organisations.
Bringing together people involved in organisational decision-making, the workshops will create space to discuss EDIA, exchange approaches and explore shared challenges.
Alongside peer learning, the workshops will help identify what support organisations need most. This will inform the development of future resources, guidance and training, helping ensure that subsequent activity responds to the realities of the sector.
Building towards long-term change
The EDIA Pilot Programme is an initial step towards wider work planned for 2026-27.
The case studies and workshops will help The BIT Collective understand what is already happening across the sector, identify gaps in support and shape future activity, including the development of our Take Action Hub.
By celebrating existing efforts, sharing practical learning and creating opportunities for collaboration, the programme aims to support a more connected, inclusive and accessible traditional arts sector.
