The BIT Collective Coordinator
A flexible and varied role that supports the work of The BIT Collective.
This role will primarily be remote working with flexible hours but with some attendance at events and meetings required.
Responsibilities and duties:
Strategise and manage relevant projects as decided with the board, to further The BIT Collectives aims of providing advocacy, support, and platforming in relation to equalities issues in Scottish traditional music
Coordinate social media and website including general updates and campaigns in conjunction with the core team
Create the regular newsletter, at least quarterly mail outs
Organise monthly meet ups for the BIT Collective community, online or in person
Attend quarterly Trad Arts Working Group meetings
Maintain and further The BIT Collective's relationship with relevant organisations across the traditional arts and music sectors, including sister organisations and networks
Provide regular updates to the board, and aid with the organisation of board meetings where applicable
Coordinate events both online and in person
Minute taking
Hiring and liaising with volunteers and freelancers
Any other relevant tasks that arise, either initiated by yourself or in discussion with the core team
Knowledge and skills:
Understanding of current equalities in the traditional music scene and the music industry more generally
Excellent organisational skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
Proactive, and self-motivated
Able to deal with difficult situations sensitively
Strong listening skills and a firm understanding of confidentiality
Good IT skills, you will be required to use Google Drive, Google sheets etc
A commitment to learning and promoting best practices of safeguarding, accessibility and inclusion
This role is a development opportunity therefore formal experience working in a similar environment is not required. We are particularly interested in applicants with an interest in developing a career in arts administration/ organisational work in the arts sector.
This job is remote and applicants would need to be willing to work alone and provide their own IT.
The BIT Collective aims to support women and gender minorities in the traditional music community, and we hope this role can be a stepping stone to promote equality in other arts organisations.
Fee:
£16/h, 7 hours per week
1 year contract with possibility to extend.
