Job Title:
Online Events Coordinator (Freelance, 12 month Fixed-Term Contract, Entry-level)
Location: Remote
Hours: 2 hours per week
Fee: £16.48 per hour (freelance rate)
Reports to: The BIT Collective Board

Role Overview

The BIT Collective is looking for a motivated, organised individual to support the delivery of our online events programme. This is an ideal first role for someone looking to gain experience in Scotland’s arts or music sectors. You’ll be mentored by experienced producers and board members, with space to grow your skills in event delivery, digital communications, and community building.

You don’t need lots of experience – we’re looking for someone reliable, enthusiastic, and excited about creating inclusive and welcoming online spaces within the folk and traditional arts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and delivery of 3–4 online events throughout the year.

  • Help liaise with speakers, guests, and participants via email and video call.

  • Assist with setting up Zoom/online platforms for events (training provided).

  • Collect and share basic post-event feedback.

  • Attend online team check-ins (monthly).

  • Champion values of accessibility, inclusivity, and community care in every event.

What You’ll Learn

  • How to run inclusive events in a professional arts context.

  • Basics of digital communications and event logistics.

  • Working within an organisation committed to social change in music.

  • Insight into the traditional music sector and The BIT Collective’s values.

What We’re Looking For

  • Reliable and organised, with strong communication skills.

  • Interest in folk/traditional music and/or community arts.

  • Comfortable using email, Zoom, and Google Docs (or willing to learn).

  • Commitment to inclusive and safe practices in creative spaces.

  • We particularly welcome applications from people who are underrepresented in the arts, including but not limited to people of colour, disabled people, LGBTQIA+ folks, and those from working-class backgrounds.

  • Experience in volunteering, performing, producing, or helping at community events (desirable)

  • Interest in feminist, anti-racist, or EDI work in the arts.

  • This role is ideal for someone looking to gain their first work experience in the music or arts sector. You’ll be supported and mentored throughout your time with us, with space to learn, ask questions, and build confidence as you grow into the role.

To Apply
Please send a CV and/or short paragraph (written, voice note, or video – whatever’s easiest) telling us what skills you feel you’d bring to the role, why you’re interested in the role and what you hope to gain from it. Include your name, email, and any relevant links or experience (if applicable), and send it to: thebitcollectiveboard@gmail.com
